Deep Spiritual Drought

We as Christians must realize how our souls are becoming cluttered with the vain things of this world more and more and less and less time is being devoted to being with Jesus Christ. Not just talking about Him or doing things for Him but being alone with Jesus. Where does that happen? In the place called the prayer room which is visited so scarcely.

Lukewarm Believers

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth…” (Revelations 3:16) What a perfectly clear and graphic picture God gave to us about believers who have become lukewarm. Jesus says he will vomit them out! Recently I went through a viral stomach bug that lasted a bit over 24 hours. It was extremely nauseating, uncomfortable, and stomach-churning throughout the 24 hour cycle. As a result I had to get the virus out of my system and so I had to do what many people have done, vomit it out. I did not need to force my body to vomit, it did that on its own to protect the integrity and health of my vital organs. It was a pre-designed mechanism to combat these types of viruses and flus. My body rejected it and created a system of anti-virus naturally. That’s what God is saying in the verse above. He cannot accept a condition of a lukewarm Christian. He wants them on fire and hot!

I took some time and looked up the Greek word for ‘lukewarm’ in the verse above which is χλιαρός chliaros. This word literally means tepid or the state of being lukewarm. What was fascinating though, is the root word of chliaros is chlio which means to make it warm. WOW! Many have  asked, how can a hot and on fire for Jesus Christian become lukewarm? Well the answer is in this verse! Red hot flaming souls who preach and live Jesus have started to become warmer. Let me ask you a simple question: how do you make hot water warm?......By placing COLD water into the pot! God does not want a mixture of the world and His ways. He wants a pure and holy Church of Jesus Christ!

How Does Warm Water Become Hot?

Warm water becomes hot by placing the water directly above a heat source. We do it every day in our kitchens. When we take water and turn on our stoves and the electric heat or natural gas fire begins to heat up the water it slowly but gradually becomes a boiling pot. God will begin to heat things up in your life for the purpose of purifying you and setting you burning again. He wants a Church who is passionate about Him as much as He is passionate about us. We have lost the passion to serve God. God will do what He needs to do to awaken His Church.

Friend, hell is a real place described to be a place of anguish, torment, and hopelessness. God has given each of us a way through His son Jesus Christ to not have to carry the penalty and weight of sin into our afterlife. Our hearts have become warm to the fact that hell even exists. We very rarely hear about it behind the pulpit anymore. We have added much cold water of this world to our theologies and arguments to stress that God cannot be God if He lets people die and go to hell. You and I have a choice. But our choice is being manipulated by this world and all its glory. It tries to mask the damnation that is pending each soul who rejects Christ and lives in sin. We must awaken the Church of Jesus Christ from its lukewarm state and set it on fire again!

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit here on earth to empower us for a passionate life of living for God. He gave us authority over evil spirits and demons. He gave us the keys over hell’s traps but yet we still are pouring cold water into our walk with God! Beloved, arise from a so-so walk with God! Find your prayer room, find that secret place where you can talk alone with God and ask Him to fill you with the presence of the Holy Spirit to live a life of passion for Jesus Christ. God loves you friend! He wants to bless your life but he will not endure nor accept a condition of becoming warm in your life.

Ask God the Father for a spiritual revival to understand His will and purpose for you! If you don’t have time to pray then MAKE time to pray. Cut out unnecessary distractions and clutter and make time to be with our heavenly Father in the secret room of prayer. For after spending time with Jesus not only will you burn with the flame of the Holy Spirit but you will set others on fire around you too!
